Egocentric worldview

Sometimes it is so hard to understand, well, how can you not understand. You tell it 10 times, but somehow it doesn't "go".

Each age has its own characteristics. Here, briefly, is the age 2-4 years, when the egocentric worldview can be observed in child development.

  1. The protagonist of the film. A child thinks that everyone sees the world the same way he does. He feels roughly like Jim Carrey on the Truman Show - this is all about me.
  2. Limited horizons. If your child has lost a toy, they think you know about it too, even though you don't really know anything about it.
  3. Share with others? Challenging! It is difficult for a child to understand that someone might also want to play with this toy. I see it, I want it, it's mine, I don't understand why I should give it to someone else?
  4. Ridiculous discussions. "Look here! I'm wearing this now!" says your little nephew on the phone. You ask: "What is it?" He replies, "Well, these!" The child thinks you are seeing the same thing he is.
  5. The Rules are the RULES. If I can't eat ice cream, no one can eat ice cream. If you have to take your shoes off when you get home, then everyone has to do it. A child cannot imagine that there can be different rules in different situations.
  6. Help me learn to understand. Just because a child with an egocentric worldview cannot understand different perspectives does not mean that we do not tell him about them. Help them to share and see how others feel!
  7. Everything will happen! But for now, study the child's development and enjoy the endearing nature of this age and egocentric perception of the world.
